Hi, I’m Nick Krug.

Before starting my own business in 2017, I worked as a photojournalist in Northeast Kansas for 15+ years. I live in a cool, old neighborhood in Topeka with my wife, our two kids and two cats. I shoot for various magazines in the area and I still cover Kansas Basketball for the Lawrence Journal-World, which I’ve been doing since 2005. I still play in a weekly basketball game with a bunch of 20-40 year-olds with varying degrees of success. I also really love to build things and recently, I added a screened-in porch off the back of our house, which, thus far, seems to be a perfect place to enjoy some food and beers with friends and all the people that I love. Cheers!!!

I take my work seriously, but definitely not myself. So this photo is probably the most serious you’ll ever see me. Maybe it’s an inaccurate representation in some regards, but my wife Louise likes it (or so she says), so I guess it can stay for a little bit longer. At the risk of sounding like a food blogger, at this point, if you’d like to “skip to the recipe,” I don’t blame you and here’s your out :)

My Approach

I think the best compliment I’ve ever received from a client is that I’m easy to talk to and I make people feel comfortable. Keeping things loose and conversational is definitely an acquired skill so I will take that one to the bank every single time. But in reality, being available to people and generally in a pretty good mood isn’t difficult when you’re doing something you love. And I feel like when my clients are comfortable, everything else comes easy.
